SOCIAL MINISTRY
The function of the Social Ministry Committee is to work on projects that benefit the needy in our congregation, our community, and other people around the globe.
We try to engage as many people in the congregation as possible to support these projects. Funding comes from our annual budget and donations.
Our on-going projects include:
Purchase food and gas vouchers to be dispensed by the pastor.
Assemble Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday baskets for needy parishioners.
Organize "Christmas Giving Tree" to provide toys and gifts for needy children.
Collect canned/dried foods on the 1st Sunday of each month for the Inter-faith Community Services (ICS) Food Bank.
Organize members in our congregation to help serve breakfast to the homeless at ICS second Wednesday of the month.
Support the Lutheran Social Services by participating in their annual fund drive in April
Support the synod's commitment to foreign missions by selling items from 3rd world countries.
Support Lutheran World Relief by making quilts for distribution around the globe.
Collect soup/food labels for a Lutheran Indian mission in Arizona.
Respond to other needs as they arise.
