About Pastor Karin
Born in Hamburg, Germany, Pastor Karin Boye was ordained more than 33 years ago in the German Lutheran Church (EKD). Her professional journey led her to serve in different capacities and in organizations of various sizes in England, Germany and the United States. Pastor Karin taught for many years at seminary. When she and her husband settled in Southern California in summer 2001, she had left the position of a Senior Pastor in a suburban, 5,900-member congregation and the challenging task of hosting a weekly morning show on National Television (SAT1).
Now Pastor Karin is serving her eighth interim here at House of Prayer Lutheran Church. She is certified as a Mediator (Orange County Human Relations) and Supervisor (Saddleback College) and received intensive training in the area of Pastoral Psychology and Family Systems Thinking. Pastor Karin was trained as Intentional Interim Pastor by the Interim Ministry Network in 2007 and holds the credentials of Professional Transition Specialist since 2011. She loves “God’s stuff in the making”.
Together with 3 cats, a dog and 8 chickens, Pastor Karin and her husband, are living in San Marcos, CA. She enjoys gardening, tinkering around the house, walking, and reading (if she makes time for it). With no relative on this continent, except a cousin in Wisconsin, she tries to travel to Germany once a year, to see family and friends.
